AP on necros (and many classes) is mostly about the PvE skill abuse (+discord). Barbs is the staple of a curse bar and that's on a short recharge. Mark of Pain spam is cute but usually unnecessary, because the first mark of pain killed every single adjacently placed foe anyway. There's a reason AP was mostly ignored before EotN.

Heroes or no Heroes, problem solved, your SS should go off without a hitch, weakening the adjacent mobs as intended. As soon as the mob you called drops, Call Target on another mob to get the Heroes a new target, and your SS-hexed foe stays alive to spread more damage and not waste the hex.
I am well aware of this. You should be explaining this to someone who thinks [[Spiteful Spirit] is bad. I was explaining it how it would usually occur for someone who thinks it is bad because they would not know how to call different targets and would allow their heroes to attack the foe hexed with it.

It's not bad, but it's still weak compared to the other options available (namely MoP nuking).

Exactly. SS is far superior to most necromancer options in PvE and definitelly gets job done (otherwise, there wouldn't be people swearing by it), but it is not really THE best thing you can do if you can make your bar part of teambuild.

actually its for disorganized groups who don't know how to drop targets within 3 seconds.

if i may make a very loose comparison, [[mark of pain] is to [[spiteful spirit] as [[searing flames] is to [[fire storm] (in nm; less armor/slower scatter).

Except MoP and SS are far superior to SF and FS.

Yeah, no kidding. I resurrected my abandoned elementalist that I was going to use to capture an elite and WOW, I was amazed at just how ineffective my "awesome" searing flames build was at taking down a mob compared to what I am used to now running an AP Nuker. Armor ignoring damage is just plain awesome.

I don't think de-railed even begins to describe this thread. Well I didn't see this in the 4 pages of [arcane echo]/[spiteful spirit], [assassin's promise] nuker, [discord], [necrosis], [barbs]/[mark of pain], etc discussion so my 2 cents about the topic.

[awaken the blood] is really only worth it for a BIP or orders where you will have very low health anyway and the added sac isn't going to hurt you. The +2 isn't going to add enough to a standard curses build to make it worth bringing. You would be better off running an AP nuker or discord....oh damn.
